Pursuant to section 35(1)(a) of the
Health Professions Act (the “Act”), the Inquiry Committee (the “Committee”) made an order to suspend this registrant’s certificate of registration pending the outcome of the CRNBC’s investigation into complaint made regarding this registrant’s nursing practice. The interim order will stay in effect during the investigation of the complaint and, if as result of the investigation the Inquiry Committee instructs the Registrar to issue a citation for a hearing under s. 33(6)(d), pending the resulting hearing of the Discipline Committee.
The registrant is employed in a senior management position and was responsible for overseeing the residential services provided to adults with physical, mental, and intellectual impairments and disabilities. CRNBC received a complaint about the registrant from a family member of an adult resident (the “Resident”). The complaint alleged, in part, that the registrant:
The Committee was satisfied that the information available indicates that there is a risk to the public which is real and immediate and which requires that the public by protected by an interim order to suspend the registrant. The Committee took the least severe interim action it considered necessary to protect the public.
Any limits, conditions, and/or suspensions ordered by the Inquiry Committee under section 35(1) of the Act are made to protect the public during an investigation or pending a hearing of the Discipline Committee. Measures taken under section 35(1) of the Act pertain to matters which are and remain unproven unless admitted by a registrant or determined by the Discipline Committee.
