Consent agreement

Nov 22, 2018

On November 22, 2018 a panel of the Inquiry Committee approved a Consent Agreement between BCCNP and Charlotte D’Arcy of Campbell River, BC, in relation to the Registrant’s failure to comply with the limits from her agreement dated May 9, 2018. The Registrant worked night shifts and supervised an employed student nurse in contravention of these limits. These limits remain in effect.

The Inquiry Committee was of the view that the Registrant’s conduct was unsatisfactory and that she breached the Professional Accountability and Responsibility Standards by breaching the terms of her consent agreement. Further the Inquiry Committee was of the view that the Registrant’s actions, by working in contravention of her limits, demonstrated a lack of accountability and responsibility, because these limits were put in place to ensure the safety of the public. Finally, the Inquiry Committee noted that consent agreements are the primary tool at its disposal to regulate a registrant’s practice and a failure to comply with limits or conditions, either deliberately or otherwise, is a serious matter.

As such The Registrant has consented to a suspension from practicing registration for a period of one week in relation to her conduct of failing to comply with the limits on her practice.

The Inquiry Committee is satisfied that the terms will protect the public.
