Serdult, Judy, RN

Consent agreement

Apr 24, 2019

On April 24, 2019, a panel of the Inquiry Committee approved a Consent Agreement between BCCNP and Judy Serdult of Surrey, to remediate practice issues related to unsatisfactory accountability, communication, and prn medication administration. Specifically, after being placed on a Learning Plan in December 2017, the Registrant did not consult with her educator. In September and October 2018, she had still not completed the terms nor registered for one required course. In July 2018, the Registrant attempted to administer prn Zopiclone to a patient who had not requested it and told respiratory therapists in earshot of three patients not to let patients be difficult and waste their time, after a patient asked to have her night time CPAP deferred so she could converse with her husband.

The Registrant has voluntarily agreed to remedial terms and a limit on practice. The Registrant will complete education on ethics and professionalism and implement a previously developed Learning Plan. She will be limited from administering prn narcotics, sedative/hypnotics, and antipsychotics independently for the equivalent of six months of full time practice.

The Inquiry Committee is satisfied that the terms will protect the public.
