Howett, Susan, RN

Consent agreement

Oct 15, 2019

On October 15, 2019 a panel of the Inquiry Committee approved a Consent Agreement between BCCNP and Susan Howett of Sidney, B.C. related to practice issues that included unprofessional conduct in the workplace. The Registrant's conduct brought about seven client complaints related to what was classified as rude, judgmental behaviour and comments. The Registrant administered an immunization to a child immediately after the consent for same was verbally withdrawn by the child's parent. Further, the Registrant provided nutrition advice that was inappropriate and not supported by best practice when she recommended that a client have her six-month old infant introduce meat into her diet by sucking on a large cooked steak bone.

The Registrant has voluntarily agreed to relinquish her nursing registration and not to reapply for practicing registration for at least 5 years.

The Inquiry Committee is satisfied that the terms will protect the public.
