On October 23, 2019 a panel of the Inquiry Committee approved a Consent Agreement between BCCNP and Dean Stewart of Salt Spring Island, BC, to remediate unprofessional conduct related to making inappropriate comments towards colleagues, including comments of a sexual nature; unwanted and unreciprocated physical contact with his colleagues; publically mocking the manner in which a colleague provided patient care; answering a personal video call in a patient’s room; and participating in photography with the security detail for a high-profile patient.
The Registrant has voluntarily agreed to terms equivalent to a condition on practice, including:
- Consenting to suspension from nursing practice for three weeks;
- Consenting to a reprimand;
- Completing a course on appropriate workplace behaviour; and
- Meeting with a BCCNP Regulatory Practice Consultant
The Inquiry Committee is satisfied that the terms will protect the public.
