Wilson, Leah, RN

Consent agreement

Jun 16, 2020

On June 16, 2020, a panel of the Inquiry Committee approved a Consent Agreement between BCCNP and Leah Wilson, RN, of Chilliwack, BC, to remediate practice issues that occurred from May to August 2019 related to failure to adhere to medication administration practices, failure to ensure her documentation was accurate, or failure to document at all. An audit conducted by the employer indicated that 88 of the Registrant's transactions for the May to August 2019 period related to medications that could not be accounted for, meaning that she withdrew medications for patients and did not administer them or account for the wastage, and she withdrew medications for patients absent a corresponding physician order.

The Registrant has voluntarily agreed to a suspension of one month as a result of the significant deficiencies with her nursing practice. She has also agreed to terms equivalent to a condition on practice, including completing remedial courses, a referral to a Regulatory Practice Consultant at BCCNP to address the concerns underpinning the Agreement, and restricting her practice to one unit for a term and not being in charge or the sole RN on shift for that unit during the term.

The Inquiry Committee is satisfied that the terms will protect the public.
