Temporary registration

Emergency temporary registration is for the sole purpose of assisting in an emergency.
Special event temporary registration is for a ​​special event that does not exceed 90 days.

COVID-19: Temporary registration during the pandemic

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, BCCNP has made temporary emergency registration available to individuals who meet the registration criteria to ensure nursing resources are available to assist with health care system capacity.

Emerg​​ency 

When an emergency has been declared by the registrar, the temporary registration category allows BCCNP to quickly and temporarily register RNs who meet a specific criteria. During a declared emergency, Temporary Registration is an option for:

  • Non-practising RNs and NPs in good standing that meet the practice hour requirement.
  • Former RNs and NPs in good standing that meet the practice hour requirement.
  • RNs and NPs with current practising registration in good standing in Canada
  • RNs and NPs in the Canadian armed forces

Temporary registration — Emergency is for the sole purpose of assisting in an emergency

  • Eligible applicants can practice nursing in B.C. up to 90 days
  • An extension is possible if the emergency situation continues to be in effect
