BCCNP board approves bylaw amendment withdrawing recognition of Canadian Health Care Academy practical nursing education programs

Aug 14, 2020

The BCCNP Board on Aug. 14, 2020, approved a bylaw amendment withdrawing recognition of the Canadian Health Care Academy's practical nursing education programs.

In accordance with the requirements of the Health Professions Act, public notice of this amendment was given by BCCNP on May 8, 2020.

The approved amendment has been submitted to the Minister of Health for filing. Ordinarily, this amendment would come into force 60 days after the date of filing unless, within that period, the Minister either disallows the amendment or specifies an earlier effective date. However, BCCNP on Sept. 1, 2020 will amalgamate with the College of Midwives of British Columbia to become the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM). As a result, this decision by the BCCNP Board may be reflected in the BCCNM bylaws, which will be made by the BCCNM Board and will come into force on Sept. 1, 2020.
