BCCNM Board appoints Cynthia Johansen as Registrar & CEO of Canada’s first nurse and midwife regulator

Aug 19, 2020

We are pleased to announce that the board of the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) has appointed Cynthia Johansen to serve as its first Registrar & CEO. Cynthia currently serves as the Registrar & CEO of the BC College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNP).

Cynthia has assumed decision-making responsibilities on behalf of BCCNM and will continue to consult with Louise Aerts in her capacity as Registrar & Executive Director of CMBC, as we work towards BCCNM go-live on Sept. 1, 2020.

The board is confident that in Cynthia, we have the right person to guide the organization through its critical transformation into Canada's first nurse-midwife regulator, while continuing to position BCCNM as a leader in health profession regulation.

We are also pleased to announce that following amalgamation, Louise will assume the role of Executive Director, Strategy & Integration, with BCCNM. All staff from both BCCNP and CMBC have positions with the new college.

Please join us in congratulating Cynthia and Louise on their new roles with BCCNM.

If you have questions about this appointment or about the amalgamation in general, please email us.
