BCCNP and the College of Nurses of Ontario are collaborating on several activities that will inform
development of the new Canadian PN exam. One of these is a practice analysis to assess and better understand current Canadian LPN practice.
In January 2019, 11 new graduate LPNs, practice-based instructors, and practical nurse educators from BC and Ontario were
recruited to participate in the Canadian Practical Nurse Practice Analysis Panel at the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN), the organization assisting us and
that will be delivering the new exam.
Over two busy days, the group developed and reviewed activity statements describing entry-level Canadian LPN practice. NCSBN is now surveying new graduate LPNs in BC and Ontario on our behalf to validate these activity statements. The survey closes March 4.
