If you answered YES, BCCNP has an exciting role as Senior Application Developer within the Information Technology team.

The BC College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNP) is hiring a Senior Application Developer to contribute to the growth and improvement of the organization. Our organization relies heavily on technology to accomplish our work, and this means we are always improving and changing. You will work with the Information Technology team to provide support to all users from multiple health professional regulatory bodies who are participating in a shared information system. This position supports new technology initiatives and projects by working with departments and project teams in defining, evaluating and implementing technical requirements.​

BCCNP is the college empowered under the Health Professions Act to regulate the practice of all licensed practical nurses, registered nurses, registered psychiatric nurses and nurse practitioners in British Columbia. What you will be doing

Reporting to the Director, Information Technology, the Senior Application Developer supports the Information Technology team in developing new and updating applications. This role provides support to other regulatory colleges in the Consortium via the Service Desk by resolving application-related helpdesk tickets and escalating issues and requests as needed. 

The Senior Application Developer applies extensive knowledge of system coding options, databases, and other application development technologies to ensure that systems applications support the college’s business. 

The SrAD works closely with internal department staff, business analysts, external consultants and external stakeholders to identify, recommend and develop effective and efficient information system solutions for the shared systems. The role also supports, through an agile process, shared information services with similar organizations.

Responsibilities include​

  • Evaluating architects, codes/configures, tests, updates and improves systems to meet the shared systems’ requirements and business objectives
  • Ensuring all application systems are operating efficiently at all times; uses tools to monitor systems; works with information security resources to ensure the ongoing security of the shared systems’ systems; problem solves concerns and escalates issues to the Senior Application Developer Team Lead as appropriate
  • Leading the development of custom web applications that interface with Dynamics CRM and SharePoint, as well as Great Plains, and researches and integrates other relevant off-the-shelf applications
  • Providing oversight for application development: ensures that application code/configurations prepared by developers follow BCCNP’s standards and industry best practices; ensures that quality and standards are met. Also ensures distributed development work is done in a cohesive manner, is appropriately documented, controlled and stored by the shared systems
  • Assisting with the access to and reporting of information contained within the organization’s systems and databases
  • Monitoring the external environment for changes in technology options and risks and assesses these against the shared systems and requirements. Makes recommendations for enhancements as appropriate
  • Reviewing the work of external development resources
  • Contributing to the development of system documentation of processes and procedures for the effective and efficient use of organizational systems, to ensure the retention of corporate knowledge
  • Providing input and recommendations on the development of future organization-wide applications
  • Researching new developments methodologies and evaluates them against existing processes to assess and implement potential improvements to the shared systems

Qualifications

  • A baccalaureate degree in computer science or related field or other relevant education
  • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge and experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM and Microsoft SharePoint applications, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Great Plains
  • 5 to 7 years of experience developing related web-based applications and interfaces. Supervisory experience is preferred
  • Proven ability to develop using Microsoft’s suite of languages, tools, servers and databases including but not limited to: ASP.Net MVC, REST Web Services, C#, JavaScript, T-SQL, SSRS HTML and CSS
  • Demonstrated systems thinking, questioning status quo and striving for continuous improvement
  • Ability to take into account attitudes and beliefs when working with individuals or groups in order to structure the situation for a positive outcome
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to use audience appropriate communication and language to present information and convey concepts 
  • Excellent customer service orientation
  • Demonstrated integrity and professionalism
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, collaborative agile environment
  • Ability to work outside of regular work hours, on occasion, to ensure the smooth functioning of BCCNP related systems
