The BC College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNP) is hiring a Systems Analyst to contribute to the growth and improvement of the organization. Our organization relies heavily on technology to accomplish our work, and this means we are always improving and changing. You will work with the Information Technology team to provide support to all users from multiple health professional regulatory bodies who are participating in a shared information system.

What will you be doing?

Reporting to the Chief Officer, Operations, and under the direction of the Information Systems Quality Assurance Analyst/Team Lead, the Systems Analyst works with a team consisting of staff and leaders, external consultants, and a consortium of other regulatory colleges sharing information systems, and holds primary responsibility for the technologies and systems utilized by BCCNP and its consortium partners.

The SA will leverage business and systems expertise to find opportunities to standardize and simplify systems solutions. The role oversees all configuration mapping of systems and coordinates configuration maintenance with the rest of the team.

Responsibilities include

  • Identifying, defining and recommending system solutions in support of business units across the organization including upgrades and enhancements to MS Dynamics CRM, MS Dynamics GP, Moneris, SharePoint, web applications, and SysAid
  • Planning and conducting third-party software analysis
  • Partnering with Business Analysts to understand business requirements, ensuring system specifications meet the business unit's expectations/ requirements, and communicating system capabilities and negotiating solutions
  • Creating and communicating system specifications based on business requirements
  • Participating in product reviews or inspections, in collaboration with the project team, to ensure the quality of work products and system outputs
  • Maintaining systems portfolio documentation and manuals and keeping them up-to-date with upcoming releases, known bugs, required workarounds and new application or coding documentation
  • Developing innovative approaches to investigating, creating and recommending solutions to resolve intermediate to complex problems and significant issues within the systems portfolio
  • Managing, reviewing and overseeing all configurations and customizations of key systems to support desired business processes
  • Undertaking feasibility analysis to identify and recommend new approaches to better streamline and integrate technological processes in the organization to improve overall efficiency
  • Supporting quality assurance initiatives by recommending better test standards; suggesting regression testing areas based on code changes; enhancing UI automation frameworks, optimizing and refactoring UI automation tests, and running stress tests and load tests
  • Playing a lead role in planning system implementations to improve internal business processes
  • In liaison with the Team Leads, identifying opportunities and promoting technical development of junior Systems Analysts and student employees, building communities of practice and networks across technology

Your skills and abilities

Must-have technical skills and experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in a computer science, computer information systems (CIS) or BBA program with a concentration in management information systems (MIS)
  • 5+ years of related experience; or the equivalent combination of experience and education
  • Competent knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics CRM in both implementation and maintenance
  • Demonstrated ability in evaluating business process and recommending improvements
  • Proven experience in system specification documentation and familiarity with displaying information clearly in diagrams, flowcharts and by using MS Visio
  • Demonstrated ability in SQL querying

Additional, nice to have, technical skills

  • Certificate in technical writing
  • Certificate in software testing (e.g. ISTQB)
  • Exposure to large scale payment and accounting systems (e.g. GP, Moneris)
  • Experience with test automation tool (e.g. Selenium, Nightwatch)
  • Experience working in an Agile environment
  • Other must-have skills and work ethic
